Led by Dr Liz Flynn, Forensic Network Clinical Lead for MAPPA and Serious Offending and Dr Alex Quinn, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, NHS Lothian. This workshop will cover the aetiology and prevalence of sexual offending, understanding and assessing the risk of sexual offending, treatment and interventions, and recommendations for the management of those who sexually offend.
The workshop will also cover sexual deviance (or paraphilia), which is an important factor in some sexual offences but practitioners can find it difficult to identify, assess, treat and manage. In particular, this workshop will cover the concept of sexual deviance, and implications for risk assessment.
