We will reference the NHS England "Trauma-Informed Care: A Guide for Healthcare Professionals" which provides a framework for recognising and responding to trauma within healthcare settings. It is vital to be aware of the impact of trauma on you, your patients, and the wider service to support the best trauma informed care to achieve the best outcomes.
This event will explore the impact of trauma on healthcare professionals and services and practical ways to mitigate this. It will also explore the impact of trauma on patient experiences and outcomes. Attendees will gain practical strategies for implementing trauma-informed approaches in clinical practice, enhancing patient engagement and safety. This event will also help participants feel empowered to signpost patients to helpful resources and services as required, as well as further training resources to further enhance their understanding and application of trauma-informed care.

This course is presented by Dr Leanne Johnson, Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Head of Trauma Informed Practice for Outcomes First Group. Leanne began her career as a qualified teacher, which ignited her passion for teaching and training others. With experience working in NHS services with children and families, she is trained and skilled in working with trauma therapies and services. Leanne has developed a comprehensive trauma-informed practice (TIP) strategy across Outcomes First Group and is dedicated to helping children achieve the best educational outcomes by reducing barriers and increasing access to school and learning. She believes that those working with children and individuals, are the most vital resource in the recovery and prevention of further trauma, as "the greatest agents of change are relationships" (Bruce Perry). Leanne is particularly passionate about increasing access to education about trauma-informed practice and care to wider audiences to achieve the best outcomes.
