Book EventHealth Realization/Innate Health (HR/IH) is a simple and accessible psychoeducational intervention which can be delivered on an individual or group basis. The HR/IH model teaches individuals that they can change how they react to their circumstances by becoming aware of how reality is created and what lies beyond thought.
We will aim to offer a space where clinicians can have an embodied experience of their own innate health in order that they, in turn can do the same for their patients.
This course is led by Mary Franklin-Smith, HCPC Drama and Movement Therapist/MANTRA Therapist and IH Coach, and Dr Rhys Jones, Consultant Psychiatrist, CONNECT, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Mary Franklin-Smith worked for over 17 year in specialist NHS mental health services before taking her own leap of faith in establishing Light of Mind Ltd. She worked as the CAMHS Lead Therapist in a Wetherby YOI and as a senior leader at The West Yorkshire Adult Eating Disorder Service. She continues to offer therapy, training, consultation and supervision to a range of NHS patients and clinical staff.
Her research interests include: Embodies Practice, Innate Health, use of tele-therapies and multi/social media, psychospiritual approaches to psychology. She lives in West Yorkshire with her husband, three children and cocker spaniel!
Dr William Rhys Jones is a Consultant Psychiatrist at CONNECT: The West Yorkshire Adult Eating Disorders Service, part of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT). His research interests include early intervention, severe and enduring eating disorders, dual diagnosis, innate health and physical risk management. He is a media spokesperson for the Royal College of Psychiatrists, b-eat (the main UK based eating disorders charity). -----------------------------------
This event is dedicated to the memory of Dr Monique Schelhase who passed away in the summer of 2024 after her battle with Cancer. Monique was a close colleague of both Rhys and Mary and played an integral role in facilitating the IH research that took place at Connect.
She was a clinical director at LYPFT, Specialist in Eating Disorders and SAS doctor. Her commitment to clinical work, medical education, leadership and management was recognised in 2022 by the Royal College of Psychiatrists as the Specialty Doctor/Associate Specialist of the Year.
Most of all she was a force of nature, an inspiration and an agent for change. You couldn't help but be impacted by her presence. It is for all these reasons that Mary and Rhys would like to honour her memory in this way and will invite you on the day to join them in making donations to her chosen charities - St Michael's Hospice and Yorkshire Cancer Reserach.
