Book EventEating disorders are complex mental health conditions that profoundly impact individuals' wellbeing. In this session, we will explore different eating disorders and their treatment including the physical and psychological impacts of the conditions. We will think about the critical role of language in understanding and addressing these conditions, focusing on how it shapes perceptions, interventions, and recovery journeys. We'll also share information on FREED (First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders) as a pioneering approach to early intervention, highlighting its emphasis on rapid support and tailored care for young people. Additionally, the updated MEED (Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders) guidance will be discussed, offering key insights into the urgent and compassionate medical management of these conditions. Together, these frameworks provide a foundation for improving outcomes and reducing stigma in the field of eating disorder care.
