This event will provide practical information centred around the assessment and management of physical health issues commonly encountered by people with mental disorders. With topics including:

Falls - Dr Graham Sutton, Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease and Other Parkinsonian Syndromes - Dr Duncan R Forsyth, Consultant Geriatrician, and Adjunct Professor in the School of Healthcare and Medical Sciences, Sunway University, Malaysia

Diabetes and the Management of Metabolic Syndrome - Dr Robert Moisey, Consultant Endocrinologist & General Physician, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust

The sessions will combine case studies and evidence from relevant literature to help improve your confidence and help you to identify when to worry about a person’s physical health, when to call for help, who to call and with what information. 

After attending this event you will be able to: 

- Understand more about the key physical health issues affecting people with mental disorders and relevant advances in treatment. 

- Identify situations when a person’s physical illness/treatment for their physical illness may affect their mental state (and what you can do about it). 

- Identify situations when a person’s mental disorder/treatment for their mental disorder may affect their physical health (and what you can do about it).
